Bob Dole by Dylan Morgan

Here's one of my favorite pieces of art-- Bob Dole by Dylan Morgan.

Dylan Morgan painted this image from a photo in the newspaper and I like it because it is "true"-- Bob Dole looked this way in a photo in one moment.

And then an artist took that moment and fetishised it in paint.

The prominence of the left hand is familiar to anyone who saw Bob Dole in campaign mode. The fact that his other was wounded in World War II makes the dis-associated nature of the left more odd.

All hail Dylan Morgan.

Do you know how I could contact Dylan Morgan? I'm a huge fan--I have two of his paintings, one a portrait of my late husband, the poet Greg Keith of Santa Cruz.
