Here’s a great sign of the times. This condo sign on Logan Boulevard always intrigued me. There was no attempt to multi-culturalize it– they went straight for the white male id gusto.
Hot dyed blonde with obscured ring finger bends over the kitchen counter. She’s got out a set of messy papers and a calculator– she’s paying the bills! Everything’s gonna be alright! You can afford that condo after all!
So it was fun to see a bright yellow addition to the poster– a love note from the Chicago Department of Buildings indicating that the work site has been closed down because they "removed plaster from a unit– no permit".
Oh, how the mighty granite does fall.
