Roach Coach Busted in Seattle

Some good info from our friends at King County Public Health:

A vehicle with license plate #536 YKU was found to be
illegally operating as a mobile food unit at 12607 NE 85th St,
Kirkland, WA
by a Public Health food inspector on Nov. 17,
2008 at 11:45 am and subsequently closed for business for the following
violations:

  • Operating without a valid permit
     
  • No handwashing available
     
  • Inadequate hot holding facilities
     
  • Inadequate cold holding facilities
     
  • Foods from unapproved source
     
  • Unapproved vehicle

    However, one MUST take care when scarfing down the grun eminating from many roach coaches.
    Over the years, in California, where roach coaches abound and have for many years, an observant observer can easily determine the horrid lack of sanitation among those working within the roach coaches.
    Hand washing? Bwa hah hah hah!!!!! Especially among the recent entrants (often sneaking into the USA illegally) who were reared within a 2nd- or 3rd-world culture where a decided lack of knowledge about bacteria and disease transmission is the norm.
    Adequate refrigeration and keeping vermin (flies, roaches, etc) away from food, pre and post-cooked, is often deficient.
    Also, the source of the ingredients is impossible to ascertain. Rest assured that the cheapest source of foodstuffs comprise the ingredients of the proffered food.
    Having been raised in areas with HUGE numbers of “immigrants” from the south we commonly heard and read news reports of “artifacts” found in dumpsters behind certain unlicensed “underground” meat markets and restaurants.
    It was simply a part of our reality the mass media has, for various reasons, decided to not convey to the general public.
    As the wave of “immigrants” engulfed us in California I noticed that local media conveyed fewer news stories about the mentioned non-traditional-to-the-USA food sources.
    Let it suffice to say that it was (and still is) noticable that there are far fewer stray animals roaming the neighborhoods us blue-collar working-poor folks resided in.
    Sure didn’t see many dogs and cats wandering AND, the incidents of missing pets out of fenced yards became common… to the point folks were fearful of allowing pets outside of the house.
    Lack of sanitation, questionable food sources, poor to lacking refrigeration and curtailment of vermin, all these should be a caution to willy nilly partaking of food conveyed by the roach coach or whatever mobile unit conveys the food.
    Not to say that all roach coaches are to be feared or shunned. Just a warning to heed from one whao HAS extensive experience among the “immigrants” who are often the folks owning and/or operating those portable food dispensing units.

I dont believe that your comment about “immigrants” being the only roach coach runners are correct when i was 14 i pick up a plumbing job in texas and it was strictly new construction and i ran into several different races running roach coaches. Have you ever actually been around a job site or are you just talking out your ass
