La Patisserie P Probably Should Have Gone Ahead and Cleaned Up a Bit

Mrclean1 Apparently a bakery called "La Patisserie P" pissed off the health department.

North Side Bakery
Shut Down by City Health Dept.
Ignored Order to Thoroughly Clean Premises

A North Side bakery remains closed this morning after being shut down Monday afternoon when Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) inspectors found non-compliance with an order to thoroughly clean the facility.

La Patisserie P, 1050 W. Argyle, was ordered by CDPH on July 6 to thoroughly clean the bakery’s walls, floors, food equipment and containers, and shelves---all of which had varying degrees of accumulated dirt, grease and dust. Bakery management also was ordered to remove the clutter in the kitchen and storage areas.

Yesterday’s re-inspection found no compliance, which automatically escalated the violation from “serious” to “critical.”

“’Clean it up’ means ‘Clean it up,’” stated CDPH Commissioner Terry Mason, M.D. “We take food safety seriously, and we expect all food establishments to do the same.”

La Patisserie P will remain closed until it has corrected all violations and passed re-inspection.

The enforcement action was the 119th time in 2009 that Health Department inspectors have shut an establishment for food safety violations.

Representatives of La Patisserie P are scheduled to appear at an administrative hearing on August 20 and pay a fine expected to total $500.

Chicagoans who believe that a bakery or other food establishment is operating in an unsafe manner are encouraged to report it by calling 311 or logging onto www.cityofchicago.org.

Still keeping it real. I miss the poetry though--any copies of "the Economy" still around? I remember one bit about the airline pilot at the bottom of the long island sound, what was he thinking...
Hope all is well,
