Anatomy of a Lacrosse Goal, May 2018

Lots about taking pictures is placement.

Last night I was placed at the top of the stands at Caleb’s lacrosse game shooting spectators and train cars. Then I saw a play unfold, pushed the button at the right times, and ended up seeing something transcendent for me as a parent. Here it is on Twitter, but I wanted to document it here as well.

OK so @caleboneil_ scored a savage goal this evening and here’s the breakdown.

Bubba rumbling down the field, looking for an outlet.

Caleb in full stride, eyeing him and magnetizing the ball.

The pass is up:

over the outstretched Blue #36, on a zipline to Caleb’s stick.

He drives straight to the goal, cradling.

Shoots with a defender right in front of him, stick up.

Goalie is set.

Ball goes past, puffs the net while goalie stretches for nothing.

Goal.
