These compilation art projects center on syndicating collections of other works to the Web and other systems. This dovetailed with my open government data work from 2006 – 2016 and goes back to a 1999 app for tracking active threats to public safety.

EveryBlock Feeds

From 2007-2011 I sourced and compiled high-value but hard-to-find content published by municipalities, republished there here on Derivative Works, and created RSS feeds to feed that place-based content to the eight EveryBlock city websites.

Demolition Hold List

I streamed a decade of content about 343 architecturally significant buildings in danger of being demolished in Chicago, allowing others to collect and publish information in the hopes of saving critical structures.

John F. Burns

I exposed the full text of articles written by John F. Burns for the New York Times so that his important international reporting could be available during the Persian Gulf War.
