Lamppost studies, Lake Shore Drive at 59th Street Harbor / Jackson Park Lagoon Bridge

I am trying to learn how to sketch.

Over the weekend, I attended (not ran in 🙂 the Chicago Half Marathon. The course for the race started in Jackson Park, basically at the site of the proposed Obama Presidential Library. I like nature, architecture, and pictures, so S-L and I walked the course up to mile 6 in order to cheer on our out-of-town friends as they raced.

Here’s a complete set of the photos I took there. Crossing the Jackson Park Lagoon Bridge at 59th on Lake Shore Drive I spied a set of distinct lampposts. The website BridgeHunter indicates that these are “identical to many lampposts seen in photos of the World’s Columbian Exposition”.
